Who can take part

  • You are between 20 and 65 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder (DSM-5 criteria)
  • You can understand the study and give informed consent
  • You do not have certain major mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or depression with psychosis
  • You do not have certain substance use disorders (nicotine is allowed, and limited low-dose sleep benzodiazepines may be allowed)
  • You should not have hearing problems or implants/metal in the head, and you must not have high seizure risk
