Who can take part

  • You are age 18 to 80.
  • You are scheduled for minimally invasive TLIF (low back fusion), at the level your surgeon plans.
  • Your overall health is in ASA 1, 2, or 3 (not ASA 4 or higher).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or less.
  • You do not take opioid pain medicines every day for more than 3 months.
  • You do not have previous lumbar spine surgery and this will not be a revision surgery.
  • You are not pregnant and can speak and read English for study needs.
