Breathing training plus exercise to improve breathing capacity

Non-cystic Fibrosis Bronchiectasis

This study looks at whether breathing exercises combined with exercise training can improve how much and how well you can breathe during activity in people with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. It may help by improving breathing efficiency and exercise tolerance, but you must be stable and healthy enough to safely exercise.

Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of bronchiectasis not caused by cystic fibrosis
  • You are currently stable—no recent worsening flare and no change in breathing medicines in the last 3 weeks
  • You can participate safely in exercise (no major other illnesses or problems with your nerves or bones that limit exercise)
  • Your heart condition is not advanced heart failure
  • You are not currently taking antibiotics, and you have not had a recent flare in the last 3 weeks
  • You have not been in a pulmonary rehabilitation program in the last 6 months
