Chemo plus targeted conditioning for hard-to-treat AML

This trial studies a specific chemotherapy plan (called sequential CLAG-Ven) with a gentler “conditioning” treatment before a transplant or donor-based therapy. It may help people with refractory or quickly relapsing acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who have a suitable family or matched donor and can meet certain organ function and infection rules.

Who can take part

  • You have AML that has not responded to initial treatment or has come back quickly (refractory/relapsed).
  • At study start, your bone marrow has more than 5% leukemia cells (blasts).
  • You have a suitable donor: a matched sibling, a 9–10/10 matched unrelated donor, or a half-matched (haplo-identical) family donor.
  • You do not have an active infection when you enroll.
  • Your liver blood tests are not too abnormal (enzymes and bilirubin must be within set limits).
  • Your kidney and heart function meet limits (creatinine not too high; heart pumping strength EF is at least 45%).
