- You had a heart attack called type 1 (NSTEMI or STEMI) recently
- Reperfusion treatment (like opening a blocked artery) is planned or happened within the last 48 hours
- You need evidence of plaque or thickening in neck (carotid) or leg (femoral) arteries on baseline scans
- You must not have type 2 heart attack, a failed first heart procedure, or need emergency heart bypass surgery
- You must not have severe heart failure (NYHA class IV) or major life-threatening heart complications
