Colchicine after shock treatment to stop atrial fibrillation

Atrial FibrillationCardiac Arrhythmia

Treatments studied

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This trial tests whether colchicine given after cardioversion (a procedure that restores normal rhythm) helps keep the heart in normal rhythm afterward. It may help some people have fewer early returns of atrial fibrillation.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your atrial fibrillation was confirmed by an ECG before cardioversion.
  • Your cardioversion successfully restored normal rhythm, and you stayed in normal rhythm for at least 30 minutes after.

Colchicine for people with certain irregular heartbeats

This trial tests whether colchicine can help people with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF), a type of irregular heartbeat, after a successful cardioversion. It may help reduce future AF problems, depending on the results.

NCT06798714Recruiting· Phase 4
Colchicine to prevent irregular heartbeat after heart surgery

This trial tests whether the drug colchicine can reduce the chance of developing atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) after open-heart surgery. If it works, it could help you recover more smoothly.

Colchicine to prevent heart rhythm problems after heart bypass surgery

This study tests whether taking colchicine (a common anti-inflammatory medication) before and after bypass heart surgery can prevent atrial fibrillation—an irregular heartbeat that sometimes occurs after surgery. Researchers hope this simple treatment might reduce complications and improve recovery.

Colchicine’s effect on inflammation after heart bypass surgery

This trial tests whether the drug colchicine can reduce inflammation after planned coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. It may help patients recover better by lowering inflammatory markers.

Colchicine for inflammation after heart attack

This trial tests if colchicine, an anti-inflammatory medicine, can help people who recently had a heart attack. It looks for markers in your blood to see who might benefit most.
