Who can take part

  • You had a heart attack with ST-segment elevation within the last 7 days
  • A left ventricular heart clot was seen on an ultrasound (TTE) or heart MRI (CMR)
  • You are currently taking two anti-platelet medicines for heart protection
  • You do not need other blood thinners for conditions like atrial fibrillation (AF) or a blood clot in the leg (DVT)
  • You are not planned for major heart surgery (like CABG or a valve replacement) within the next 12 months
  • You have no reasons you cannot take blood thinners, no prior brain bleeding, and you can agree to take part
