Testing DBS settings for walking and balance in Parkinson’s

If you already have DBS in place, the trial uses computer-based planning to try different DBS directions and settings to see what helps you most.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD)
  • You have DBS in both sides of your brain (bilateral DBS)
  • Your DBS electrodes use a directional system (not the basic type)
  • You had a special MRI scan before your DBS surgery (at least 7 Tesla, with diffusion imaging)
  • You had a head CT after your DBS surgery (with scans cut at least 1 mm thick)
  • It has been at least 3 months since your DBS was first turned on
