Who can take part

  • You have Parkinson’s disease for at least 4 years
  • Your tremor or movement symptoms improve meaningfully with levodopa (at least 30%)
  • You have troublesome symptoms like tremor or medication side effects (wearing off and/or dyskinesia), especially affecting walking
  • You have problems walking such as recent falls (at least one in the last year) or unstable balance
  • You may be a good DBS surgical candidate and are approved for this specific brain target (PPN area) by the study team
  • You can safely have MRI/brain surgery and you can take part in the study (including consent) in English
