Who can take part

  • You are older than 18 years
  • Your condition involves the ascending aorta, such as an acute aortic tear (TAAD) or a blood collection in the aortic wall (intramural hematoma)
  • Your symptoms began within 7 days of having surgery
  • You are having your first (primary) surgical repair for this acute aortic dissection
  • Any other major heart surgery at the same time is allowed
