Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and have been diagnosed with major depression.
- You are currently having a major depressive episode (feeling very down or losing interest most of the day, nearly every day).
- Your depression is moderate to severe, based on a standard rating scale.
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test before starting and use an approved birth control method during the study.
- You must not have a history of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or psychotic symptoms (like hallucinations or delusions).
- You have not previously failed treatment with cariprazine or other antipsychotic drugs, and you are not currently taking any antipsychotic medications or drugs that interact with cariprazine.
