Who can take part

  • Baby was born at or transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center within 48 hours
  • Baby was born at 35 weeks or later (not preterm)
  • Baby had long-term exposure to opioids before birth (about more than 1 month)
  • There was ongoing opioid use by the birth parent during pregnancy (about more than 1 month)
  • Baby must not need breathing support like a ventilator or noninvasive mechanical support
  • Parents/guardians can provide consent, and baby has no major birth defects
