CoQ10 in early-to-moderate kidney disease with high urine protein
Part of Kidney & urinary, Women’s health & pregnancy clinical trials.
This study tests whether taking coenzyme Q10 can improve chronic kidney disease in adults with moderate kidney function and higher urine protein. It also looks at safety, especially for blood pressure and potassium levels.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Be age 18 or older
- Have chronic kidney disease not on dialysis (kidney function blood test in the 30–89 range)
- Have high urine protein (albumin-to-creatinine ratio 30 mg/g or higher)

This trial studies whether vitamin K2 can help people with chronic kidney disease (kidney damage that lasts months or longer), especially those with higher protein levels in the urine. It compares vitamin K2 use in a specific group and watches kidney-related health outcomes and safety.
This study tests if careful potassium management can help people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) safely take higher doses of blood pressure medicines called ACE inhibitors or ARBs, which are known to protect the kidneys. You may be eligible if you have moderate to advanced CKD and are already on a moderate dose of one of these medications.
This trial tests whether taking vitamin C and coenzyme Q10 can help protect your kidneys from damage caused by certain chemotherapy drugs (cisplatin and gemcitabine). It may be an option if you are about to start chemotherapy for cancer and have healthy kidneys.
This study tests if CoQ10 (a natural supplement) can improve liver health in people with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). It may help if you have a fatty liver and related metabolic issues like high blood pressure or diabetes.
This trial tests whether a supplement called CoQ10, along with supervised exercise, can improve how the body uses energy in people on chronic dialysis. It may help with muscle function and overall health if your heart and dialysis situation are stable enough.
This trial tests whether combining two natural supplements (CoQ10 and glutathione) can protect your kidneys during heart bypass surgery. It may help prevent acute kidney injury, a common complication after these procedures.
