Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have chronic heart failure (NYHA class II to IV, meaning you have symptoms like shortness of breath or fatigue during mild activity or at rest)
- A recent blood test shows your NT-proBNP (a marker of heart strain) is above 600 if your heart rhythm is normal, or above 1000 if you have atrial fibrillation
- You have not had a heart attack, heart surgery, stroke, or other major heart procedure in the past 30 days
- You do not use a mechanical heart assist device (like a ventricular assist device) and are not scheduled for a heart transplant
- You can take selenium and CoQ10 supplements (patients with peanut or soy allergy should not take the study supplement)
