  • You are between 18 and 70 years old
  • You are scheduled to have heart surgery using a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass)
  • Your kidney function is normal or only mildly reduced (measured by a blood test showing GFR of 45 or higher)
  • You do not have a single kidney or a kidney transplant
