Who can take part

  • Be 19 years or older
  • Have biopsy-confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck
  • Be scheduled for planned neck surgery (neck dissection) for either no known nodes (cN0) or known/suspected nodes
  • Have blood test numbers that are high enough: hemoglobin 9+; white blood cells over 3000; platelets 100,000+
  • Have kidney function, liver health, and other blood chemistry within allowed limits, including enough magnesium and potassium
  • Be able to sign informed consent and understand the study
