Who can take part

  • You are age 40 or older (male or female)
  • If you have liver cirrhosis, it must be “compensated” and show signs of portal hypertension (like varices or an enlarged spleen)
  • You must be able to give written informed consent
  • You cannot have planned surgery within the next 3 months
  • You must not be pregnant at the time of dosing
  • You cannot take part in another stable-isotope study within the past 60 days
