Who can take part
- You are age 40 or older (male or female)
- If you have liver cirrhosis, it must be “compensated” and show signs of portal hypertension (like varices or an enlarged spleen)
- You must be able to give written informed consent
- You cannot have planned surgery within the next 3 months
- You must not be pregnant at the time of dosing
- You cannot take part in another stable-isotope study within the past 60 days
