This study tests special ways of analyzing blood-pressure recordings during major surgery to better understand why some people develop low blood pressure (hypotension). If you have high blood pressure and need invasive blood-pressure monitoring, your surgery team will use readings to study patterns that may help predict or prevent low blood pressure.

Who can take part
- You’re at least 18 years old.
- You’re scheduled for major surgery using general anesthesia expected to last more than 2 hours.
- You expect to stay in the hospital after surgery for more than 2 days.
- Your surgery will use an invasive blood pressure line (radial or femoral) and Mostcare monitoring.
- A passive leg raising test is planned because of risk of low blood volume or higher risk factors (like fasting, major surgery, expected blood loss, or heart/circulation conditions).
- You can and will give informed consent before surgery.
