Who can take part

  • You are currently being supported with pressure support ventilation (PSV).
  • You are expected to need the ventilator for more than 48 hours.
  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be 35 or less.
  • You do not have certain conditions (like high pressure in the brain, diaphragm/phrenic nerve injury, broncho-pleural fistula, or COPD).
