  • You are pregnant
  • You are between 18 and 50 years old
  • You do not have a blood condition like sickle cell disease
  • You do not have a hemoglobin condition such as thalassemia or other disorders that change hemoglobin levels
  • You do not have circulation problems in the hands or fingers (peripheral vascular disease) or finger skin conditions that affect blood flow
  • You do not have high bilirubin (a liver/blood chemistry number that can be high)
