- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have a definite diagnosis of mild to moderate ARDS, with breathing trouble that started within the last 5 days.
- Your oxygen level is low but not severe — measured as a ratio between 100 and 300 on a blood test.
- Your chest X-ray or CT scan shows fluid in both lungs from ARDS, not from heart problems.
- You agree to use effective birth control (not hormonal) for 2 weeks before and 3 months after the trial.
- You have not had cancer treatment in the last 2 years (except simple skin cancer), no recent heart attacks or blood clots, no liver/kidney failure, and no weakened immune system.
