Who can take part

  • You must be able to read and understand Chinese (Mandarin) well enough to fill out study questionnaires.
  • You must currently have a diagnosis of depression or an anxiety disorder, confirmed by a doctor's interview.
  • You cannot have a learning disability (intellectual disability), bipolar disorder, or a psychotic disorder.
  • You cannot have had a substance use problem (like alcohol or drug addiction) in the past three months.
  • You cannot have had a recent suicide attempt or be at serious risk of suicide right now.
  • You must be willing to keep your psychiatric medication at the same dose for the first six weeks of the study (unless your doctor says a change is needed).
