Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosis of advanced liver disease with cirrhosis.
  • In the last 6 months, you've had fluid buildup in the belly, a serious belly infection, fluid in the chest, bleeding from the stomach or throat veins, or confusion from liver disease that required medicine.
  • You can understand and speak English well enough to talk with the study team.
  • You have not had a liver transplant before.
  • You are not currently receiving hospice care.
  • You do not have active cancer (except certain skin cancers) or liver cancer that is too advanced.
  • If you are a caregiver, you are 18 or older and the patient sees you as a main helper during hospital visits or by phone.
