Testing a new prone positioner for babies with tracheostomies

This study tests a new prone positioner (a special pillow or mat) to see how well it fits and feels for babies with tracheostomies. If your baby is in the hospital or Vent clinic at Children's Mercy, you may be able to help by sharing your thoughts on the device.

Who can take part

  • Your baby has a tracheostomy (a breathing tube in their neck) and is between 1 month and 24 months old.
  • Your baby is in the PICU, NICU, or Vent clinic at Children's Mercy Hospital.
  • Your baby is medically stable, with no recent heart or belly surgery complications, and no broken bones or weight restrictions in their arms.
  • You (the caregiver) must speak English.
  • This study is for caregivers, and also for certain therapists who haven't seen the new prone positioner before.
