Who can take part

  • You are a woman age 18 or older with lupus that is mild to moderate in activity.
  • If you take steroids, your dose must be 20 mg or less daily and stable for the last 4 weeks.
  • If you take hydroxychloroquine or other antimalarials, your dose must be stable for the last 12 weeks.
  • If you take immunosuppressive drugs like methotrexate or mycophenolate mofetil, your dose must be stable for the last 12 weeks.
  • You must agree to use effective birth control during the study if you could become pregnant.
  • You must be willing to stop any vitamin B3 or tryptophan supplements at least 6 weeks before starting.
