Who can take part

  • You have moyamoya disease and are scheduled for bypass surgery to improve blood flow in your brain.
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You do not have claustrophobia or trouble understanding or speaking that would prevent an MRI.
  • You haven't had a stroke spot larger than 15 mm (pea-sized) in your brain before surgery.
  • You are not allergic to anesthesia drugs and do not have metal implants or participate in other device/drug studies.
