Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosis of Focal Cortical Dysplasia Type IIA or IIB (either confirmed by a biopsy or strongly suspected from MRI and other scans).
  • You are scheduled to receive epilepsy surgery to remove the affected brain area.
  • You can attend appointments to give a blood sample and a nasal swab.
  • You are able to provide written informed consent (or a parent/guardian can for you).
  • No other medical condition that would make it hard to take part.
