Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You either have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (MDD) or you do not (healthy comparison group).
  • You must be able to safely undergo an MRI scan (no metal in your body, no head or neck tattoos, not claustrophobic).
  • You have no past or current neurological problems (like seizures, significant head injury, or stroke).
  • You have not had substance dependence in the past year, and you will pass a drug test on scan days.
  • You are not pregnant, and your estimated IQ is 70 or above.
