Brain connectivity study in people with depression

This study looks at brain “connectivity” (how different brain areas talk to each other) in people with depression. You may be able to join if you are already getting once-daily TMS to a specific brain area at Brigham and Women’s or Massachusetts General, and you can safely complete MRI scans.

Who can take part

  • You are an adult (age 18 or older)
  • You are getting once-daily TMS to the left side of the prefrontal cortex at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or Massachusetts General Hospital
  • You do not have major neurologic conditions (like Parkinson’s, stroke, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, or brain tumors)
  • You have not had a TMS course in the past 12 months and you have not recently had ECT (within the last 3 months)
  • You can safely have an MRI scan (for example, no metal/implants that make MRI unsafe, and you can tolerate being in the scanner)
  • You can follow all study steps as required (you can attend visits and complete instructions)
