Exercise and vitamin D for type 2 diabetes

This study tests whether adding aerobic and resistance exercise to your routine helps manage type 2 diabetes better when you already take metformin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and possibly vitamin D. You would be assigned either to an exercise program or to continue your usual care.

Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes and are at least 18 years old.
  • You have been taking a combination of metformin and an SGLT2 inhibitor (like empagliflozin or dapagliflozin) for the last 6 months.
  • You either take prescription vitamin D supplements (for at least 6 months) or you do not take any vitamin D supplements.
  • You must be able to walk steadily without help for at least 6 minutes.
  • If you are a woman, you cannot be pregnant.
