  • You are between 45 and 75 years old
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 35
  • You have had type 2 diabetes for at least 1 year but not more than 5 years
  • You are not taking insulin or certain newer diabetes drugs (like SGLT2 inhibitors)
  • You have not been doing regular exercise or a weight loss diet recently
