Who can take part

  • You are between 12 and 18 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with persistent or chronic ITP (lasting more than 3–12 months).
  • Your platelet count is very low (below 30 per nanoliter) on at least two tests taken at least a week apart.
  • You have tried steroids before but they either stopped working, you relapsed, or you became dependent on them.
  • You are not currently on other ITP treatments that interfere, or you have stopped them at least 4 weeks before starting the trial.
  • You have no other major health problems (like severe infections, heart disease, or cancer).
