Who can take part
- You must have a BMI of 27 or higher (or a BMI of 27–30 with a weight-related health problem like high blood pressure or diabetes).
- Your weight must not have changed by more than 5% in the last 3 months (no major gains or losses).
- You cannot have had weight-loss surgery, except liposuction or tummy tuck done more than a year ago.
- You must not have type 1 diabetes, a history of diabetic coma, or poorly controlled high blood pressure.
- You must not have liver disease (except nonalcoholic fatty liver), gallbladder problems in the last 2 years, or a past suicide attempt.
- You must not have had a heart attack, stroke, unstable chest pain, or heart failure hospitalization in the last 3 months.
