Who can take part
- You are between 14 and 55 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with hemoglobin SS or Sβ0 sickle cell disease.
- You have had 10 or fewer pain crises (vaso-occlusive crises) per year over the last two years.
- You have had at least one episode of acute chest syndrome, stroke, priapism, bone avascular necrosis, or splenic sequestration.
- You do not smoke or vape, and have not for at least 3 months.
- Your weight and body mass index (BMI) are within a specific range (BMI under 30).
