Who can take part
- You are between 12 and 18 years old.
- You have sickle cell disease with a specific genotype (HbSS, HbSβ0-thalassemia, or HbSβ+-thalassemia).
- You have had at least one of these: two or more severe pain crises, chest syndrome episodes, priapism, strokes, or need for transfusions due to antibodies, or you have not been able to use standard treatments.
- You have not had more than 10 unplanned hospital visits for chronic pain in the last year.
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy, and you have no severe liver, kidney, or active infections.
- You are willing to follow the study rules and attend follow-up visits.
