Who can take part
- You are having a catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation for the first time.
- Your doctor has confirmed you have atrial fibrillation using an ECG (heart tracing).
- You do not have a blood clot in the left upper chamber of your heart.
- Your heart's pumping strength is at least 35%.
- Your thyroid function is normal.
- You have not had a prior ablation for atrial fibrillation or heart bypass surgery.
- The size of your left atrium is not too large (less than 65 mm or 200 ml in volume).
