Fatty liver inflammation study with liver biopsy

Liver Diseases

Part of Digestive system clinical trials.

This study looks at how the liver's immune environment changes in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) that has progressed to significant scarring. Researchers will use a liver biopsy to understand the inflammation better, which may lead to new treatments.

  • You must have at least moderate liver scarring (fibrosis stage F2 or higher) based on a non-invasive test like FibroScan or a blood test.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and willing to have a liver biopsy.
  • You must not have advanced liver complications like cirrhosis with fluid buildup, bleeding, or confusion, and you must not have other liver diseases (such as hepatitis B or C, autoimmune hepatitis, or genetic hemochromatosis).

Type 2 diabetes and fatty liver: new tests for disease tracking

This study is looking for people with type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease to find better ways to track how the disease progresses. They will use special tests (biomarkers) to see if the liver is getting worse over time.

Liver fibrosis test study for fatty liver disease

This study is looking for new ways to detect liver scarring (fibrosis) in people with fatty liver disease (NAFLD, NASH, MASLD, or MASH). If you qualify, you will give a blood sample to help identify biomarkers that could replace biopsies.

Study immune and disease changes in fatty liver

This study looks at what drives non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and how it affects the body, including immune-related changes. You may be invited if you have confirmed fatty liver disease or, alternatively, if you are a healthy person with no liver disease.

French study of fat in the liver and related health outcomes

This study follows adults with nonalcohol-related fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to better understand the condition and what factors affect it. It may help researchers learn which patients are most at risk and how care can be improved in the future.

Study of liver inflammation and scarring in hepatitis B or fatty liver

This study looks at what factors predict liver inflammation, scarring (fibrosis), and health outcomes in people with long-term hepatitis B or fatty liver disease. The goal is to better understand who is more likely to worsen over time.

Tests two non-invasive ways to check liver scarring

This study compares two non-invasive approaches to diagnose advanced liver scarring in people with non-alcohol-related fatty liver disease (NAFLD). It may help confirm which test strategy finds advanced scarring without needing a biopsy for everyone.
