Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a chronic (long-term) liver condition of any cause (for example, cirrhosis or hepatitis).
  • You have a sudden worsening of your liver, with jaundice and a bilirubin level of 3 mg/dL or higher.
  • You have not had a liver transplant, TIPS procedure, or spleen surgery for your liver disease.
  • You do not have severe lung disease, kidney failure on dialysis, or a recent heart attack.
  • You are not being treated with immune-suppressing drugs for a reason other than your liver disease.
  • You do not have liver cancer or any other cancer.
