Eosinopenia and Recovery in Severe COPD Exacerbation

Who can take part

  • You were admitted to the hospital because your COPD suddenly worsened (a flare-up).
  • You have smoked at least 1 pack of cigarettes per day for 10 years (10 pack-years).
  • You have a breathing test (spirometry) result showing your FEV1/FVC ratio is below 0.7.
  • You are able to understand the study and give signed permission (informed consent).
  • You do NOT have asthma, active cancer, a parasitic or serious fungal infection, or take certain steroids or biologics that affect eosinophils.
