Radiation to bridge to liver transplant

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This study tests whether a precise type of radiation (called stereotactic body radiotherapy or SBRT) can be used as a 'bridge' to keep your liver cancer from growing while you wait for a liver transplant. It may help more people stay healthy enough to receive a transplant.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are on the liver transplant waiting list in France or being evaluated for one, because of liver cancer (HCC).
  • You have good enough liver function (Child-Pugh score B7 or better) and are generally able to care for yourself (ECOG score 2 or less).
  • You have 1 to 3 liver tumors, and the largest one is smaller than 5 cm (about 2 inches).
  • Your liver has enough healthy tissue left (at least 700 ml) for the radiation to be safe.
