Who can take part

  • You are between 20 and 90 years old.
  • You have nerve pain or numbness from peripheral neuropathy or a stroke that affects sensation.
  • You can avoid caffeine, alcohol, tea, and certain drugs for 48 hours before each study session.
  • You do not have serious heart, lung, or other major medical conditions, nor a metal implant that is not safe for MRI.
  • You are not pregnant and do not have claustrophobia.
