  • You have a long-term breathing problem that keeps carbon dioxide levels high in your blood.
  • Your doctor has said you need a home ventilator that works in a specific way (spontaneous-timed mode).
  • You have never used a home ventilator or CPAP machine before.
  • You do not need a ventilator to keep you alive.
  • You are not pregnant, and you do not have memory or thinking problems that would make it hard to understand the study.
