Who can take part

  • Be between 50 and 90 years old
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of COPD with severe airflow blockage (FEV1 less than 50% of predicted)
  • Have high carbon dioxide levels in your blood (PaCO2 over 53 mmHg) for at least two weeks after a COPD flare-up
  • Have had at least two COPD exacerbations (flare-ups) in the past year
  • Not currently using a home breathing machine (non-invasive ventilation or CPAP)
  • Be willing and able to use a breathing machine and telemonitoring equipment at home
