This trial is testing a new, less invasive way to take a lung tissue sample (called transbronchial cryobiopsy) to help diagnose progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF). It may help doctors find the cause of your lung scarring without needing a larger surgery.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) or an unclassified interstitial lung disease (ILD).
  • Your lung function tests show that your forced vital capacity (FVC) is at least 50% of normal, and your carbon monoxide diffusion (DLCO) is at least 35% of normal.
  • You have had a high-resolution CT scan (HRCT) of your chest in the last 3 months.
  • Your blood clotting is normal (platelet count above 50,000 and INR below 1.5), and you do not have high blood pressure in your lungs (pulmonary artery pressure below 40 mmHg).
