Who can take part

  • You or your loved one has been declared brain dead by a doctor.
  • Consent for organ donation has been given.
  • No open wounds on the chest or belly area.
  • No active infections that would prevent lung donation (like HIV, West Nile, or COVID-19 in the last 14 days).
  • No active cancer (except skin or brain tumors) or certain cancers in the past (like lung, breast, or colon cancer within 10 years).
  • Lying on the stomach is safe for the patient.
