- You are the parent or guardian of a child 1–10 years old with sickle cell disease, or you are an adolescent/young adult 11–25 years old with sickle cell disease.
- You (or your child) have been prescribed hydroxyurea for at least 6 months.

- You have not taken part in the previous VDOT study.
- You (or your child) are not currently receiving other sickle cell treatments like regular blood transfusions or L-glutamine.
