Who can take part
- Your baby was born at or before 28 weeks of pregnancy
- Your baby weighed 1250 grams (about 2.75 pounds) or less at birth
- Your baby is alive and still needs a breathing machine between day 5 and day 14 of life
- Your baby does not have other major birth defects or serious health problems (like severe heart, lung, kidney, or brain issues)
- Your baby has not had major surgery in the last 3 days
- Your baby does not have a severe bowel infection (necrotizing enterocolitis) or other infections like HIV
