Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have rectal adenocarcinoma (a type of rectal cancer) that is pMMR or MSS (specific markers from your tumor biopsy).
- Your MRI shows your cancer is stage T1-2N1-2M0 or T3N0-2M0, with no spread to nearby lymph nodes on the side and a clear margin around the tumor.
- The lower edge of your tumor is within 10 cm from the anal opening.
- You have not had any cancer treatment for this rectal cancer before (like chemo, radiation, or surgery).
- Your overall health is good (ECOG 0 or 1) and you can swallow pills.
