Who can take part
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of rectal cancer (a type of colon cancer) that has grown into or through the muscle layer (T3 or T4) and may have spread to nearby lymph nodes (N0–N2), but not to distant organs (M0).
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are generally in good health – able to do normal activities without help (ECOG score 0 or 1) and have a low surgical risk (ASA grade I–III).
- You have adequate bone marrow, kidney, and liver function based on blood tests done within a few weeks of starting.
- You have not had any other cancer in the last 3 years (except some low-risk skin cancers).
