Who can take part

  • You must be fluent in English and able to give consent.
  • You must be able to have an MRI scan (no metal implants, no claustrophobia).
  • You cannot be pregnant or have a serious medical condition like stroke or seizures.
  • If you are in the opioid use disorder group, you must be diagnosed with OUD, taking buprenorphine, and have been free from illicit drugs for at least 2 weeks.
  • If you are in the control group taking buprenorphine for pain, you must not have a substance use disorder.
  • If you are a healthy volunteer, you cannot be taking buprenorphine or have any psychiatric or major medical conditions.
